About Us

Founded in 1973, Friends of West Florida Public Library is a nonprofit, community membership organization supporting our public library for more than 50 years. The Friends is an active group of local citizens who strengthen the county’s public library system through library advocacy, creative learning, and literacy support. Our mission is to advocate for literacy and learning in the community and the West Florida Public Library by expanding resources and fostering their availability.

Initiatives

The Friends support a wide variety of projects at our libraries. Each year, the Friends provides funding to support WFPL Summer Programs.  Approximately 3,000 kids attend fun and informative programs at all library locations and have the chance to win an awesome assortment of prizes.  This helps introduce kids to their local library and encourages them to participate in library activities.
