A Call to Artists for Altered Books

Posted By :

In recognition of National Friends of Libraries Week (October 16-22) the Friends of West Florida Public Library is sponsoring an Altered Books Exhibition. You are invited to get creative and alter or transform a book. An altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into a different form, altering its appearance and/or meaning.

You may submit your altered book(s) at Artel Gallery, 223 Palafox Place, on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Submissions will be on display at Artel Gallery, October 18 through October 28. A reception will be held on Thursday, October 20, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Three winners will be awarded cash prizes ($150, $100, $50).

The altered book shown is by award winning Pensacola artist Sandy Ford. Find other examples by simply searching Google for altered books. For more information visit facebook.com/FriendsofWFPL or www.artelgallery.org.
