Author discusses “My Life with Death”

How accurate are the forensic investigations in television shows like “CSI,” “Law and Order” and “Bones”? Can a medical examiner really glean all that information from a dead body, as shown in “Making a Murderer”?

If you’re just dying to find out, join the Friends of West Florida Public Library (WFPL) on Monday, Feb. 1, for a discussion with Dr. Gary Cumberland, forensic pathologist and author of “My Life with Death.”

Dr. Cumberland has performed hundreds of autopsies in his long career as a medical examiner in Pensacola and Mobile, and he will talk about actual cases to explain the principles and procedures of death investigation.

The discussion will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the WFPL Main Branch at 239 N. Spring St. This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Copies of “My Life with Death” will be available for purchase.
